Because of the novel corona virus COVID 19 pandemic, Uganda Wildlife Authority has promptly moved to restrict tours the wildlife parks especially for primates such as gorillas, chimpanzees, from potential infection as they share more than 97% DNA with human beings.
Uganda wildlife Authority (UWA) came out with a statement to ensure the safety of primates in Uganda by suspending all primate safaris. On top of this, there were adjustments in rescheduling of gorilla permits and chimpanzee permits to avoid cancellation of the gorilla permits in order to stave off cancellations for already bought trekking permits.
